Worldwide Markets
While there are many similarities between vended laundries in
the United States and vended laundries in other countries, there
are some striking differences.
International vended laundries are traditionally smaller, with
fewer machines than their U.S. counterparts. The average size of a
vended U.S. laundromat is between 2,200 and 2,800 square feet,
while international laundromats vary between 1,200 and 1,500 square
feet.
In many international markets, utility costs are more costly
than in the United States. Also, vended laundries in many
international markets are attended, offering more services like
wash and fold, valet, and pick-up and drop-off services to smaller
hotels or restaurants.
But in any market, the laundromat's mantra is still location,
location, location! Finding a well-trafficked location near
universities, high-rise apartments or in tourist areas goes a long
way towards establishing a reliable customer base.
