Summer is a very special time of year. It brings back many memories of lazing about drinking lemonade under the willow tree in my parent's backyard after a long morning of riding bikes with friends, afternoons spent at the local pool jumping off the diving board and having contests to see who could hold their breath under water the longest.
Then there was the annual family camping trip up to the lake. This was a pilgrimage that my brothers and I looked forward to at the end of every school year. We would spend the days swimming, fishing, hiking and getting dirty.
As we get older, that anticipation for summer seems to fade and the daily grind of life seems to take over. However, as this spring comes to a close, I find myself getting excited for this summer. This is the first time in many years, our whole family - spouses, kids, grandkids - will be assembling at the lake for the 4th of July holiday.
Summer seems to last for such a short time. I hope each of you take the time to make some new memories, sip some lemonade and cloud gaze under your favorite tree.
Sincerely,
Jan Rupnick
